This 19th century Chinese fretwork … more A Chinese desk with fretwork bottom and eight drawers and two doors from the 1800s. This 19th century Chinese fretwork desk displays bronze hardware and recessed handles on each of its eight drawers and two doors. The base is nicely carved in a cracked ice openwork design. The fretwork base is flanked by two doors sitting below the drawers. The back is finished with four recessed panels while the entire desk features varnished wood. This desk is a great example of the Chinese modern style during the 19th century. This 19th century antique Chinese fretwork desk with bronze hardware and doors and drawers would be an elegant item in most homes, especially in a den where it would no doubt add a touch of exoticism. less
