This stunningly preserved Colonial Manufacturing Co..(Zeeland, MI) writing desk featuring solid brass & nickel hardware is a unique example of late 19th/early 20th century American furniture. The desk is constructed of solid Honduras mahogany throughout and features a variety of cubbies and compartments, complete with original retractable glass ink well and pen holders for lefties and right handed individuals. The desk has a large sliding writing surface with brass pulls, as well as a number of drawers and compartments for storing pens, ink, paper, and other writing/work supplies. The desk has a sweet, distinct mahogany aroma which is further testament to the fine condition of the wood.
The desk has been professionally serviced to better reflect its original condition. having said that, it was acquired in nearly flawless condition. The original mahogany finish has been buffed to a rich, warm patina, and the articulating parts have been carefully cleaned and polished. There is no damage, or post fix gluing or artistic liberties taken of any kind, this one is the real deal. There are very slight signs of use consistent with age.
