The classic Barcelona chair was exclusively designed by Mies van der Rohe for the German Pavilion, that country's entry for the International Exposition of 1929, which was hosted by Barcelona, Spain. Like the building housing it, the chair was stately and elegant.
An icon of minimalist design, the chair's design was inspired by the campaign and folding chairs of ancient times, Sella curulis (curule chair)
Surely Mies's finest furniture design, placing it in the center of the room allows the viewer to appreciate its simple, supremely elegant construction.

Specifications:
Fully upholstered in white leather.
Back and seat cushions are made of 40 individual panels of leather that are cut, hand-welted, and hand-tufted with leather buttons.
Barstock steel frame triple chrome plated, hand-buffed to a mirror finish.
17 white leather belting support straps are attached to the frame for cushion support.
