Also the legs taper to terminate at base to padded feet, with stretcher supports. The Art Nouveaux period spawned an elaborate pieces, often hand-carved, with natural elements from the outdoors, as in floral and fauna, as well as animal details, with the skilled, craftsmanship to add design details such as the inlay one sees in many of this periods pieces, as well into the beginning of the Art Deco Period. The leather is a worn and weathered patina saddle leather in a persimmon coloration, with brass nailhead trim detail. The underside has plastic bumpers place upon feet, so the delicate carved foot do not get damaged, even though this chair has been kept in a room with carpeting, also the cardboard base bottom, is old and the original. The owner decided not to touch or have it replaces, to detract and leave it to the next owner the decision making IF wish to replace or change the inner seat stuffing. The chair seat has the original horse-hair stuffing, as was done in the period of the chairs production, which was hand-hewn and carved in Austria. Also the close up images of the dowels, which are not the norm we see, but in Europe in certain contras they were oval or spherical-shaped dowel pegs. less
