This Robert Rauschenberg Foundation rare vintage 1991 Earth Summit limited edition " Last Turn - Your Turn " custom framed lithograph print is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection. The framed lithograph print is published by Ivy Hill through the auspices of Universal Limited Art Editions with the licensed authorized rights of The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. It is printed in 1991 in an unnumbered limited edition of 200 on the occasion of the first United Nations conference on environment and development Earth Summit in 1992 in Rio De Janeiro Brazil.
It features an artwork originally created by Rauschenberg in 1991 titled " last Turn - Your Turn ". It was created in conjunction with the conference which became an emblem for the event, part of an environmental campaign, and appeared on buses in major U.S. cities.
Robert Rauschenberg ( 1925 - 2008 ) is recognized as one of The 20th Century's most influential and prolific artists. he is credited with binding the gap between the movements of Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art. A pioneer of the " Transfer Drawing " process, he experimented in technologically sophisticated combinations of photographs and drawings. he is highly regarded as a Modern master of mixed media and collage. The works are layered and transcend the two dimensional format for the viewer. Art works by Rauschenberg are included in the collections of more than 70 of the worlds most prestigious museums.
In addition to his admirable artistic accomplishments, Rauschenberg was a dedicated environmentalist decades before it became popular. Many of his works reference man's destructive relationship to the earth. this is a fantastic representation of his message for the importance of environmental action which is still salient now 28 years after its creation.
The rare out of print vintage framed lithograph print measures 27" W X 27" H X 1 1/2" D. It is period custom framed with plexiglass in a classic Modern natural maple wood museum style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
