They are usually transparent on the outside with a colored or opaque glass core. The most used watermark is the white or black one. This is a self-made filigree, as the amethyst core is covered with a green coating which makes the amethyst an almost dark bronze color. The other barrel is clear with amethyst. The twist (mena in Muranese, or twisted) creates a position with the back of the vase almost as if it were a reticello (once called filigree, which explains the term half filigree). The special color combination was then laminated onto pure gold leaf, highlighted with iridescent smoke and then covered with another layer of high-temperature glass to make the gold vivid. The vase is quite large and has a square mouth, like Carlo Scarpa's half-filigree vases. The base has an internal finial reminiscent of early 20th century Murano vases, particularly Zecchin. The punched detachment was cleaned. This is the only element that allows the vase to be dated. Before the Second World War and after the 1980s, detachments of fists were left visible, in the first case due to the techniques, in the second to testify to the artisanal process of Murano. The color scheme of Gucci's palette, amethyst and green, also brings to mind a decade from the 1980s. Attributed to Cenedese for the similarity with other vases from Amelio Cenedese's collection. It is a magnificent vase with a great technique behind it that belongs to the decade of the roaring eighties. The measurements indicate the width and depth as a corner-to-corner measurement. Good condition, some bubbles trapped in the barrels on one side (see photos). less
