Master of the Neapolitan School of the 17th Century. Vision of Saint Francis The saint of the order, identified by his wounds, is depicted in a sleeping posture. According to legend, he had a vision in which an angel appeared to him with a violin. This depiction of legends can be found in many painters, especially from the 17th century. A famous painting by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, known as Guercino, from around 1623, in which the painter shows the saint in ecstasy at this moment. Here the painter also shows an angel floating in the clouds to the left. Oil on canvas, 81 x 104 cm Dimensions 81 x 104 cm very good condition This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
