With our absolute highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this wonderful vintage lowboy made by Councill Craftsmen. As with all of their offerings the Councill Craftsmen furniture company has produced yet another masterpiece in the form of this traditional lowboy. With respect to the other major furniture producers of the late 20th century: such as Baker, Henkel Harris, Henredon, and others there has not been a single manufacturer to consistently maintain a superior line of traditional furniture like Council Craftsmen has. In the past fifty years Council Craftsmen has transformed from a smaller regional furniture maker into a massive operation with demand surging across the country. Since they employ hundreds of expert craftsmen and produce a line of furniture typically made from 100% solid Honduran mahogany their products have become the top of the line as far as American manufactured furniture is concerned with customers paying considerable amounts of money to own their quality products. These rising costs over time have led consumers to seek out the finer late 20th century offerings through professional furniture resources, many of whom specialize in traditional antique furniture, so that they may save thousands of dollars off what the very same pieces cost sold through a Council Craftsmen distributor.
This lowboy is constructed from solid Honduran mahogany and made to the exacting standards of traditional early American craftsmanship. The design for this lowboy is inspired by the masterpieces produced in Philadelphia around the time of the American Revolutionary War by such artisans as Thomas Affleck, Benjamin Randolph, & Martin Jugiez as evident from the carving patterns along the lower center drawer. The central shell carving with trailing vines can be found on some of the finest American lowboys in musuems across the country. The same masterful level of carving work was labored into each of the carved cabriole legs and into the ball and claw carved feet. This lowboy is formatted with a single long drawer over three small drawers and featured fluted quarter columns on either side of the case. The lowboy also features a finely molded top and exceptional carving detail along the apron. This piece is perfect for someone who wishes to own the absolute best in quality traditional design and values premium craftsmanship over cheaper reproductions which are found in consignment shops or through various online platforms. We only wish to offer the very finest for our clients to ensure those hunting for the best value and quality keep coming back to us time and again. The lowboy measures 34 3/4" wide x 20" deep x 32" tall. less
