Hand-knotted in wool circa 1870-1880, this 5x8 antique Persian rug is a remarkable signature piece from Tehran, more than 140 years old. Its features beige underscores floral patterns in motifs and impressionistic bouquets; a lovely design like few even in our collection of Tehranian pieces.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft may appreciate this very special antique rug for being not only an exceptional find from one of the most special provenances, but a rarity to find a floral Tehranian rug of such spacious size, scale, and love in its every inch. The signature can be sen in the cartouche of the central border in the uppermost part of the rug. Though polychromatic in its beauty, like a dense and vibrant forest of spring flowers, there’s a notable presence of green and red hues among the many at work. Connoisseurs will appreciate what an uncommon play of styles this is, with a playful sense of symmetry and scale, too, making it very European and modern for its age. This is a bold, graphic, personal antique piece; a piece of weaving history most likely from a special workshop with a deep reverence for the charm of floral rugs—this being one of the most elegant and versatile we’ve seen.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final

Cancellations

- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.
