Based on the contrast between the wooden structure and the soft cushions that form the backrest, seat and armrests, every detail of cornaro is meticulously curated to highlight the original aesthetic of the model, updated in height and depth. The enveloping upholstered cushions that give the backrest, seat and armrests their shape are set within a majestic, sculptural wooden frame. Structure. Base in beech with glossy lacquer finish or ash with open-pore matte lacquer finish. Laces. In exposed thin black saddle leather contained inside a grommet developed to simplify connecting the backrest to the structure. Padding. Recycled pet fibre and elements made of polyurethane with a percentage of polyols derived from biological sources and in circularrefoam®. Designed in 1973 by carlo scarpa, cornaro is distinguished by its unique material and structural contrasts. The geometrically austere base embraces the soft seat. The enveloping padded elements that form the backrest, seat and armrests are nestled in a sculptural wooden structure. The sofa’s proportions have been updated, increasing their height and depth, through in-depth research and development work carried out in close collaboration with tobia scarpa. Every detail was meticulously curated to highlight the original aesthetic of the model, like the exposed thin black saddle leather laces contained inside a grommet developed to simplify connecting the backrest to the structure. Cornaro is available as an armchair, sofa, or a two- or three-seat end element.
