With its curvy forms and beaded embellishments, Stick and Ball styles were widely used on wicker and rattan furnishings. The style was a part of the Aesthetic Movement and reflected the late 19th century craze for exotic motifs and Japonisme. The curvy design was a predecessor of bentwood furnishings later popularized by Thonet and others. less
