Or perhaps you have the perfect mirror under which this will sit. The top is a beautiful piece of white marble with gray veining. The base is wood. The front of the piece and the marble are scalloped. The marble has a beveled edge. The base has a braid design around the top, with a shell like motif in the center. The sides and legs are all highly decorated. It has been painted gold/gilt. I think the ornamentation on the base is possibly gesso/plaster? This would be wonderful in a hallway, under a window, at the foot of a bed, or numerous other places. I'm uncertain of the age or origin but I think it is old. less
