"I recall when my family moved to Beijing. It was my first time living in a modern apartment with a flush toilet. Like all toilets, it had a tank to store water. My mom put a small watermelon in the water tank during the day, and then we would have delicious, cool watermelon after dinner!"
"On weekends, my parents and grandma would take me to Beihai Park and enjoy boating. My dad would bring lots of yummies and a big watermelon, put it in a string bag, tie the string bag on the stern of the boat, let it soak in the cool lake water, and swim with our boat. When it got cool down, we would cut it into big pieces and bury our faces in it eating, which we call ‘face washing eating.’ I would also quickly slip one thin piece with my mouth from left to right, pretending I was playing the harmonica. Summer joys."
