- Here is a beautiful pair of nightstands designed by Paul Frankl and made by Johnson Furniture Co. in the mid-century. … more Here is a beautiful pair of nightstands designed by Paul Frankl and made by Johnson Furniture Co. in the mid-century. Each nightstand has an amazing curved front! The drawers and cubby above mimic the shape. The two drawers have the original lovely brassy/gold metal square shaped hardware. The bases are a lighter wood tone - likely birch or maple. The color is more blonde-ish. The top and the border around the front have been painted in a warm white/cream. There are also coordinating glass tops, although one has a chip to the back. They still work great though for keeping your nightstand top protected. less
