A small round tray made of sterling silver and woodgrain formica, measuring 6.75” in diameter. The bottom of the silver band is stamped "STERLING." This versatile and beautiful piece has many uses. It can be used to protect your tabletop, as a bar tray for cordial glasses, a wine coaster, a trivet for hot coffee or tea pots, gravy bowls or small dishes, a coaster for moisture-forming beverages or water pitchers, a coaster for syrup jugs, honey pots, jam jars, to corral cream & sugar, salt & pepper shakers or other condiments, or as a plant stand or decorative riser for a figurine or ginger jar. Although there is no label aside from the STERLING stamp, these were made in the mid-century by several high-end American silversmiths including Gorham, F.B. Rodgers, Sheffield, Alvin and others.
