This Roy Lichtenstein rare vintage 1990 iconic silkscreen print large custom framed Swiss museum Pop Art poster " Yellow Brushstroke I " 1965, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection. The silkscreen print large framed Pop Art poster is published by The Kunsthaus Zurich Art Museum, printed in 1990 in an unnumbered limited edition by Universal Prints Hamburg.
It features an iconic artwork originally created by Lichtenstein in 1965 titled " Yellow Brushstroke I ". the original painting is held in the permanent collection of The Kunsthaus Museum in Zurich Switzerland since 1975. It is part of the " Brushstroke Series " of Lichtenstein's artworks. As with all of his brushstrokes works, it is in art a satirical response to the gestural painting of the Abstract Expressionist movement.
Roy Lichtenstein ( 1923 - 1997 ) the American born Pop artist of a Jewish background, is on of the most influential and innovative artists of The 20th Century. During the 1960's along with Andy Warhol among others, he became a leading figure in the new Pop Art movement. His work defined the premise of Pop Art through parody. Inspired by the comic strip, Lichtenstein produced precise compositions often tongue and cheek manner. His paintings reinvigorated the American art scene and altered the history of Modern Art.
The rare out of print large format silkscreen print framed Pop Art poster measures 35" W X 47 1/4" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with plexiglass in a classic Modern brushed finish matte black metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation. It is in excellent " like new " vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling to the the frame molding. Please see photos for condition reference.
