Hand-knotted in wool, this pair of 6x10 and 710 twin rugs from the Modern Classics rug by Rug & Kilim enjoys all over geometric patterns inspired by the Chinese Art Deco movement of the 1920s.
On the Design:
A play of beige and cream white tones underscores a repeat of either-pointed star medallions and floral patterns, with a resemblance to similar motifs admirers of the craft will know from the Chinoiserie style (as well as Khotan, Samarkand, and similar rug provenances). Keen eyes for detail will further admire the many bright and playful accent hues in the repeat, and the subtle variety and levity they lend the repetition—a sense of movement in the field that plays beautifully with the more traditional architectural borders. It’s an inventive play of 1920s style moderne and elegance in a comfortable contemporary quality with vast design applications.
