Gorgeous and unusual Florentine style box. This box features an acanthus leaf carving on the box lid. Rich and lustrous gilt over wood. Brass hinges and painted cream interior, typical of Florentine design.
As a big fan and collector of Florentine items, this box is a mystery to me. It has every indication of the craftsmanship of Italian Florentine, but I don't see a mark and it's a highly unusual design.
