This 8x10 inch piece is small but lovely, with thickly applied gouache demonstrating painterly brush strokes. A pale blue wall and cranberry red patterned tablecloth frame a pretty delft vase - blue roses on white porcelain - filled with flowers native to Australia, South Africa and similar climates. The blooms include proteas and banksias, and are surrounded by vibrant green eucalyptus leaves.
This is the fourth iteration of this composition, I have revisited it occasionally since I first painted it on pink and pistachio in 2018. Each time I revisit it, it grows and changes in its own way. less
