Description: Imao Keinen, 今尾景年, ( 1845 – 1924) was a Japanese painter and print artist who worked in the late … more Imao Keinen, 今尾景年, ( 1845 – 1924) was a Japanese painter and print artist who worked in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is known for his kacho-e, or bird-and-flower prints. In 1891, Keinen published his masterwork series "Keinen Kacho Gafu," a four-volume set of bird and flower pairings through the four seasons, which is held in the collection of the British Museum.

This diptych is from the first edition, published in 1891, which differs drastically in quality and detail when compared to the later edition published by Unsodo in 1977.
