Beth Munro’s original paintings, whether composed of still life, landscape, or abstract forms focus on pattern, color and texture. Munro is inspired by everything from the impressionist artworks of Cezanne and abstract paintings of Willem de Kooning to the fauvist paper cut-outs of Matisse and historical quilts made by the women of Gee’s Bend in Alabama. Composed of many materials such as tissue paper and woodblock prints, her subtly layered artworks seem to be cut and reassembled together.
This one-of-a-kind 36 inch square original artwork is an abstract composition layered with many pastel hues of acrylic paint and ink on canvas. It is stretched, wired and ready to hang. This abstract painting is signed by the artist on the back of the artwork. The sides are painted and it does not require framing. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included.
While Munro is inspired by art history as well as her surroundings, she is constantly in search of new ways to create form. She continuously finds further inspiration from her daughters’ illustrations. Beth Munro’s softly hued palette is unique to her work and acts as a common thread as the subject matter evolves. The interaction of color, pattern, texture and form creates a harmonious rhythm.
About her work, she states: “I hope my work conveys a mood, delights the eye, and captures the whimsical nature of life.”
