Rare Mid-Century Chinoiserie Japanese 2 Sided 4 Panel Gold Blue and White Lacquer Screen

I started my career in interior design. This was one of the first pieces I ever ordered for my client … more I started my career in interior design. This was one of the first pieces I ever ordered for my client who then lived in Beverly Hills in the 1970s. There was recently an estate sale for her family and I bought it back. This Artisan made 4 panel black Lacquer screen is from the early 1950s and is made of solid elm wood. A lot of the gold lacquered wood has been raised in the original carving of the wooden panels. The front panel shows a Royal garden with traditional flora and fauna surrounding traditional Pagodas while the back side of the panels are painted with vivid periwinkle orchids that trail from the 1st panel up to the top of the 4th panel. These screens are hard to come by today and I was lucky to reclaim this one. less
