A pair of Swan Chairs designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen. Originally designed for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Aluminum swivel base with the older style 4 point shaft. Original upholstery by Alexander Girard a wool superweave in red and hints of pink. The fabric is in good vintage condition, however the foam has areas of stiffness specifically on the edge of the arms. One chair has two small snags, slightly visible in person. Dated 11/1968 on the base
Alexander Girard designed this textile during his tenure as founding director of the Herman Miller Textile Division (1952 to 1973). less
