Hand-knotted wool and originating from Turkey circa 1950-1960, this 3x7 vintage Ersari rug is from the same provenance, a sub-tribe of the Turkmen people often known for their more distinct tribal rug designs.
On the Design:
Connoisseurs will appreciate this design which is an exemplar of the beauties that distinguish Ersari rugs and their tribal rug designs. Colors have aged particularly beautifully, as one can see in the beige-brown and blue hues, and the white accents one seldom sees so crisp and lively for even a vintage rug of this period—a collectible and rich work of folk art with a more dense repeat than many of its provenance enjoy as well. Admirers of the craft may admire the play of all over and medallion style together in its particular geometric patterns, again notably similar to the Bokhara provenance with its choice of motifs.
