The design is a simple and abstracted lotus blossom composed of eight flaring and gently curving petals with pointed tips. The dish retains its original patina in a dark bronze color with visible hammered finishing marks. Very good original condition with expected scuffs on base. Fully marked underfoot: M. Zimmermann / Maker over her MZ artist's cipher; measuring 7.88 in. diameter.

The design reflects Zimmermann's ability to interpret historical design sources for her clients — this pointed-petal form relates directly to Chinese designs produced during the T'ang Dynasty (618-906 CE).
