A 1970s large format, dynamic modernist expressionist painting by A. Spellen titled "A Complicated Lover". Mixed media artwork, featuring oil paints and built up texture, including imbedded plastic and wood pieces. Dynamic, expressive brushstrokes in whites, pinks and greens on a background of reds. Signed by the artist in lower right corner and on the verso. Framed in a gold metal frame and ready to hang. Overall great vintage condition, consistent with age and use.
