Gilt toned accents are cast of iron and retain patina that adds charm and history. The bed frame locks into place like puzzle pieces and rails have a lip to catch the edge of a box spring. New in the box black iron rails are provided. This system needs assembly. Even with a tall mattress set the headboard's height provides for plenty of extra room to show the fine iron work. What's really convenient is how the bed comes apart for moving. The side rails, canopy pieces, finials, foot and headboard separate for easy moving or storage. The bed looks equally beautiful without the canopy's iron rods. They can be removed by simply un screwing the 4 poster finials.

The vintage bed was extended to Cal king size by The Cat House on Montana Avenue, Santa Monica, California in the late 80's. It fits a California King mattress. There is a custom made to measure dust skirt made specifically for this bed in natural color finest quality linen with a cotton lining. It is in excellent condition from a pet free, smoke free environment. The skirt installs between the mattress and box spring. It has been dry cleaned and stored in a protective bag. It is in excellent condition. The bed finish is soft almost matte charcoal/black. The details have the patina of a vintage piece. The entire bed finish was recently restored to excellent condition. Paint finish keeps tiny marks of age in the gesso under the gold details. These were left untouched to save the patina. . less
