It generally refers to household items made from tin or thin metal sheets that are lacquered or enameled and often hand-painted. Toleware first became popular in the 18th century. In the 1950's there was a revival in toleware home decor and I believe that is when this particular lamp was made. It is a grayish off white base color with black painted floral details. Made in the student desk lamp design. 2 armed. Frosted chimney and shade on one arm. 3 way light mode. 30/70/100. less
