- We present here an early 1700 hundreds Brussels tapestry it is what we call a verdure as it only represent … more We present here an early 1700 hundreds Brussels tapestry it is what we call a verdure as it only represent a landscape ,you will find very lovely trees , oversize plants , grass etc...,the composition is quite interesting with a broken tree on the side and an other with a broken branch in the middle all this create an illusion of deepness that invite you in the picture, that effect is even enforce with the use of a frame that present dark brown side and a light brow side , than you will find all around a splendid floral border with an opulent variety of flowers and rubans .Brussels was famous for the extreme quality of it s designs and weaving techniques that it is always very fine that of course give to the general picture a stunning realism , also to be consider the extreme beauty of coloring used in Flemish tapestries in general , here the colors are splendid and very well preserved . Brussels tapestries started to show very rich, and ornate borders at the late 1600 hundreds to come during the 1700 hundreds to very large and opulent borders , here you can see that fashion with a use of complex coloring , reds , bleus , pink etc that you don t have in the main scene . Very important you will find at the bottom the signature still showing , BB with a shield standing for Brussels Brabant .
