silvio poma (trescore balneario 1840 - turate 1932) is known as a landscape painter with a repertoire of lake views, often going to lake como and the small village of lierna to paint, intimate in character, also showing the influence of his contemporary filippo carcano in their realistic approach. The period from 1883 onward saw an increase in activity with systematic presentation of works in national exhibitions and lasting success on the art market.

he participated as a volunteer in the second war of independence and later took up military life, but in 1866 he was discharged from the army after contracting malaria. On his return to milan he attended the studios of giovan battista lelli and gerolamo induno, both soldier-painters with whom he had come into contact during the military campaign of 1859.
