Rare and extraordinary two piece Fiske Urn plus base. We cannot find another example of this shape or one who's relief descends below it's rim. From the beginning of America's Industrial Revolution and from one of New York's premier Foundry's - it has withstood the test of time and is now part of our history.
This urn sat on one New England property for so long that the base had settled almost completely into the hard ground and appeared as though it was sitting on a piece of stone. Despite this it has little- very little decay. The interior of the urn has some pitting and the 3 bolts are decayed- yet we lift it from the top rim to move it.
We acquire items in & around the beautiful Hudson Valley and the Berkshire Foothills of Western New England. Some are offered on the national market. This one will be difficult to part with.
