This unit comes in three individual pieces, the hand carved wooden top and bottom and the separate soapstone top. This is a very well made unit with brass hardware. This is a very heavy piece in great condition which is remarkable for its' age. There are no cracks or chips in the stone top or tiles and the overall piece is in remarkable condition for its' age. Any wear is commensurate with age. This piece comes from a home that was all done in a french country ecletic design. All items were hand selected from France for this Hamptons New York home. The piece is hand-painted in an antique white / celadon outer color and a very lite blush for the inside storage spaces. The inside of the hidden drawers were left in a natural wood tone. This is an added master piece to anyones collection. The back was left in the original wall covering/paper that was used when this unit was first made which is beautiful and unique in its very French Bird and Floral design. The Individual very unique ceramic/stone tile is something that just sets this piece apart from any I've ever seen before. This is truly a treasure to own. less
