This fabulous early 20th-century beauty was commonly known as a washstand with storage capacity. While it may have started its life out as such, it has been contemporized by replacing the traditional straight block legs on the front with the whimsical carved floral round feet you see in the photos; original legs remain on the backside. A carved decorative back rail was added to complement the front feet and the top was trimmed out with a moulded edge all around which adds depth and visual interest. The original hardware was replaced with the decorative western-influenced hardware as seen in the photos. On the interior, a shelf was added to the storage compartment providing more efficient storage functionality. The dovetailed drawer, on the interior, was also trimmed out with moulding on the sides which added structural integrity. It’s a beautiful piece that measures as follows:

Interior cabinet: lower level 29” x 15½” x 7¼” W/D/H; top shelf 29” x 12” x 6¼” WD/H
Weight: approximately 100 lbs.

Handcrafted from quartersawn oak with a natural wax finish which has aged into the beautiful honeyed hue you see in the photos. It is in excellent condition with age-appropriate wear. Maker is unknown. We believe it was made sometime in the early 1900s. This beauty is an old soul with a hip and modern look-and-feel, the perfect small storage solution to complement today’s contemporary home!
