Exquisite set purchased this weekend at an estate sale in a house filled with antiquities.
It appears have been used only for display.

Handpainted Porcelain 

Decorated in raised and textured painting in the Moriage style.
The beautiful female figure featured on the coffee pot, the Saucers and the cups
Is Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy and compassion, the Keeper of Peace, and Reliever of Troubles.  
Kannon (Avalokiteshvara) is the most popular Bodhisattva in Japan.  

She is surrounded by the faces of The 7 Immortals.  From Japanese mythology 
Comes the 7 Gods of Fortune, or the 7 Lucky Gods.  The number 7 being  significant sign of good luck in Japan.
