Chinioserie decorated with a carved dragon at the top and three lower cabinet doors inlaid with carved bone flowers and birds. Three large glazed cabinet doors. Three pull-out collection surfaces under glazed doors. Total of 22 removable and adjustable shelves, photographed with six.
Measures: 9' total height,
7' 9" width at the widest point at the top,
1' 9" depth at the deepest part at the base.

Biography: Gabriel Viardot (1830-1906). Gabriel Viardot was a famous French cabinetmaker specializing in chinioserie furniture in the last third of the 19th century. In 1853 he opened a factory and a furniture store located at 36 and 38 rue Rambuteau with his brother, Louis Gustave, as the "Brothers and Co.”
In 1860 he opened his own studio, "G. Viardot” at 5 rue du Grand-Builder, and became head of the family business until 1872. At the Exposition Universally of 1867, he was awarded four medals and a silver medal at Universal Exhibition of 1878. In 1885 he won a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Antwerp. Following this exhibition, he was promoted to the rank of Chevalier of the Legion of Honour (December 29, 1885). In 1889 he was present at the Universal Exhibition which took place in Paris and was awarded a gold medal. He received the same reward at the exposition Universally of 1900. less
