This is just a great original piece. For those who follow my store, you know I have been buying and selling a lot of photography lately. I will be listing some of what I recently acquired this week. A great chance to add some incredible photographs to any collection. This is one of 2 original photographs by important Australian photographer Gary Heery. For those not familiar with the photographer I have included his biography below. This is really a wonderful early example of some of the artist's animal works. Published in 1996 this image was included in his 1996 book entitled 'Zoo". A large photograph measuring 18 x 14 inches. Signed in ink lower right and has the artist's blindstamp in the paper lower left. Photograph is in stunning as created condition. Looks like a couple tiny little handling creases in the bottom margin. Archival matte and black frame are complimentary and ready to hang. Frame shows a few scrapes. Frame measures 30 1/2 x 25 1/2 inches. If you are interested in Heery photographs, check my store for the other I am offering. His work is highly collectable and these are 2 excellent examples that are a must have for any collector.
For those not familiar with the photographer his biography from a gallery that sells the artist's work reads: "Born in Sydney, Australia, Gary Heery studied sociology and psychology at the University of New South Wales. In 1974 he moved to the US where he co-founded India America, a magazine chronicling Native American society and culture in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Two years later he moved to Los Angeles where he photographed album covers for Roy Orbison, Frank Zappa, Ray Charles, B.B. King and Joe Cocker. He also shot portraits of film and music stars for magazines including Life, Esquire, Rolling Stone and Interview. In 1981, Heery moved to New York, opening a studio in Soho where he photographed album covers for Madonna and Paul Simon (Graceland) and advertising campaigns for Swatch, Karl Lagerfeld and Sony. less
