Meunier (1888-1979) was a French illustrator whose career flourished in France in the 1920’s and 1930’s. She is best known for her nude and semi-nude female drawings. She developed “pin-up” style boudoir illustrations and was well received as a female artist during a time when male artists dominated this genre of art. Her works are increasingly more collectible as they are limited and more difficult to find. Such lithographs are now RARE to find. Meunier's illustrations are soft and gentle. At the same time they are subtle, playful, flirtatious and fun and showcase the beauty of the feminine body. This image is entitled "Simplicite: un rien m'habille!” which translates as "Simplicity: I'm Dressed in Nothing". It speaks of sensuality and seduction. The young woman is provocative and alluring while at the same time she is innocent and sweet. The young nude with her sombrero style hat seduces her viewer with her pose, her smile, and her virtuous beauty. The print is clean and pristine and signed by Meunier. 8.5 x 12.5 inches in size.
