An exceptional pair of fine Russian cast brass candlesticks dating from the late 18th century. This pair possesses a certain allure with their elegant ovoid-shaped stems that rise from impressive square domed bases. The threaded screws at the end of the stems allow for disassembly. The pair are identical and retain a beautiful, uniform and mellow patina. Interestingly, the darkened and uncleaned undersides are indicative of the many years of exposure to burning candles and fireplaces. They are all original, unrestored and in excellent antique condition with normal signs of wear commensurate with age and use. These decorative pieces are indeed very characteristic of Russian quality craftsmanship and design prevalent at the end of the 18th century. Circa: 1780-1800. Candles shown are not included with purchase.
