James Todd worked as a looking glass and frame manufacturer at various addresses in Portland, Maine from 1820- c. 1866. Born in Hingham, Massachusetts his brother, William Todd, was a cabinetmaker with shops in Boston and Hingham. At the age of 16, James Todd apprenticed to Paul Mondelly, a French-born looking glass maker with a shop in Boston.
