Delicate woodcut print on handmade paper of a stylized figure and hieroglyphic-like symbols by Monterey Bay artist Paula Walzer (British,/American 1926-2014). Mounted on linen. Titled, numbered, and signed along bottom edge ("Potiphar's Wife V 1/10 Paula Walzer). Presented in a metal slat frame with Plexiglas. Image size: 34.5"H x 23.5"W
Paula Walzer (British, 1926-2014) was born in Manchester, England. Paula grew up in war-torn England, spent her childhood in boarding school and then went to Switzerland for art school. She traveled to the States as a young woman where she met her husband-to-be, Stuart B. Walzer in Chicago. Paula was a young fashion designer, designing rain coats for her father's business and even her own wedding gown. After moving to Los Angeles with Stuart, she received her BFA from Otis Art Institute as well as her paralegal certificate from UCLA. She was later a board member of the Monterey Peninsula Art Foundation.
