The paper signage element that is covered by a shield of plexiglass or acrylic sheeting, has some mild moisture damage, the plexi shield also shows some signs of aging pretty common on any advertising from the early 20th century. All of the writing is still legible & intact. The wood on this sign is definitely aged & weathered , it’s scratched with dents & gouges peppering its surface, I like it & I think it adds character to the overall presentation. The antique cast iron ice tongs are in excellent antique condition, likely because they saw little use as ice tongs and instead spent their life attached to this sign. Please examine attached photos for further details , photos are to be considered a visual description of this item. Feel free to ask questions less

This sign is handmade by someone who likely wasn’t a professional sign maker by trade, it is antique DIY folk art made with the materials on hand by someone who is not classically or formally trained. Top half of the sign is a business listing including a 5 digit phone number (1917-1960s). The bottom half utilizes an antique pair of cast iron ice tongs, traditionally used to pick up and move around the blocks of ice sold before ice trays and makers were household items. There are no lack of businesses, parks and other civic spaces bearing the Lineberger name in that area, as well as in other areas of North Carolina. This is a unique example of both antique advertising signage & folk art. less
