A feature that stands out is the shape in the form of a Palace sentry guard box with pitched roof top & having a brass front mount fixture. A front panelled door which is lockable. Also having reeded fascia on a slim pedestal base.
With a posting slot near the top and a pull out small drawer with brass pull handle at the bottom.
You will love the sentry box shaped design.
So collectible and would make an exceptional gift.
Handmade & well constructed made from mahogany wood which has a delightful brown patina colour.
With working lock and brass key which locks and opens.
A nice size as it stands 56 cm tall and 27 cm wide

Interior post boxes were a must for the English aristocracy during 1870 to 1910, they were displayed on the reception counters of grand hotels, and the entrance halls of stately homes. Twice a day the footman would be expected to gather the outgoing mail and send it to the local post office. They where often inspired by architecture, with varying roof styles, this model is a particularly notable rare example as it has the sentry box shape..
In was originally used in a large stately home where it would have stood in the central main hall way room where family members or guests could deposit there mail to then be taken to a post office.
Very rare, valuable, collectible and highly sought after.
