Hand knotted in fine, high-quality wool, the Islimi pattern is seen in the swirling, curvilinear vine scrolls surrounding lotus symbols of rebirth against the midnight blue background, depicted in beige matching the innermost borders and complemented the vibrant hues of red, yellow, and blue in the sharply drawn, kaleidoscopic medallion. Framed by a rustic red guard border of equal finesse, this piece hails from a select line with an Islimi pattern made to look homogenous with the border while being unfalteringly separate, even piercing the guard border in a choice remarking the creator’s emphasis on dimensionality.
