The rarity of this set is enhanced by a provenance from the Estate of Johnny and June Carter Cash and the remarkable condition. This set of domes not only serve a useful purpose for fine entertaining but create an exceptional installation of their own hung on the wall or placed on a sideboard.

Elkington & Co is one of the most important names in English silver and certainly the most important in silver plate. In the book Jackson Hallmarks; Ian Pickford defines Elkington’s production as “ranging from the very ordinary to very important design; the quality is always superb.” The firm was founded by the Elkington brothers in 1836. At the Great Exhibition of 1851, they were awarded the Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria which remained intact until the reign of King George VI.
