They have a triangular shape on the back where it fits a corner of the wall for up lighting and the front is a decorative dome shape. There are holes on the two flat sides of the triangular shape for screws to hold the sconces against the two walls in the corner. The pair needs to be wired with a socket each for a bulb. less
