The design team worked together at Knoll throughout the 1970s and won numerous design awards. Like Marc Newson's Lockheed Lounge, the aluminum pieces designed by Hannah and Morrison in 1971 were inspired by a mode of transportation, specifically, sailboats and the way sails slot into a channel in the mast. This item is demountable and easily taken apart with an allen wrench--the aluminum side panels release the center sling, where the upholstery slides into a channel in the metal bar. Overall condition is good. There is some wear to the aluminum frames, with minor dents, scratches and discoloration. The finish could be buffed to a high shine by a profession metal polisher. There is visible and minimal wear on the fabric from usage + age. Made in the USA.
