The clothing of the picnic attendees is accented with mother of pearl touches, the effect of which is not done justice by these photos. Its luminescent appearance was difficult for me to capture accurately. Blood red background color with a gilded line around the featured scene. This may be used as a tray for drinks, jewelry , decoration or organization, it can also be displayed as a wall hanging piece with the addition of a hanging apparatus. See less

- This tray is in good condition for an item that’s roughly one hundred years old. Some of the paint in … moreThis tray is in good condition for an item that’s roughly one hundred years old. Some of the paint in the solid red area has some wear to it, it looks similar to old mirrors with age in those spots. The Victorian picnic scene is solid & intact without any mar to the image, as are all of the abalone accents on the clothing & elsewhere. There appears to have been liquid exposure on the underside of the tray, there is no mold or lasting damage, just the stain left by the liquid, as if drinks had overflowed onto the tray during serving. The top of the tray is glass with its underside painted , gilded and treated with mother or pearl, none of that was done any damage through the moisture. The metal elements of this test are in good condition, three sides of the railing of this tray are in very good condition, the bottom railing has some mild bending or warping, it’s minute , but can been seen in the accompanying photographs.
