jOSEPH MASCART WAS Born in 1874 in Condé-sur-l'Escaut (Nord), died in Paris in 1985. Painter of the 19th-20th centuries. French school. SCHOOL OF ROUEN.

First established in Rouen, he founded the Société des Artistes Rouennais. In 1929, he made the tour of the world, then settled in 1935 in Paris. He participated in the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts, then at the Colonial Exhibition of 1931, at the Salons of the Tuileries and the Independents.

His Norman landscapes, in the time of his friendship with LEBOURG, and the Parisian sites are among his well known works. He belongs to the School of Rouen. Mascart has brought a large number of books from Oceania. One discovers there influences of the Japanese art and, consequently, Art Deco.
