Gracefully arched ramps in the hood are mounted with flame finials above a case with stepped upper drawers flanking a carved fan with 32 lobes. The upper of seven drawers, rests within a mid-mold above lower case with a long drawer and two short drawers, centering a recessed shell carving, all above an undulating apron with drops. Cabriole legs gracefully support the elegant case and terminate in pad feet. The splendid case has great warmth and depth of color.

This type has been identified as of New London County, Connecticut, in the book, New London County Furniture 1682-1840 from the Lyman Allen Museum. Our example has the unusual and correct feature of having the sides directly dovetailed to the rear styles. Minor repairs.
