with a playful character, the Gli Scacchi series is made up of three inspired elements as the name reveals at most
classic game, in particular the Queen, Knight and Tower pieces. Lightweight and easy to move
just like on a chessboard, Chess is based on an idea of living free from constraints. The three elements they elaborate and develop the shape of the parallelepiped and for the soft polyurethane structures and dimensions they synchronize perfectly with the iconic Camaleonda seating collection. In the original version of 1971 the Chess represented a notable technical innovation with the introduction of the lining self-skinning polyurethane, a solution previously used only in the automotive industry. In the 2020 reissue the soft coverings are in leather or Kanu leather with visible stitching. The elegant profile metallic at the base underlines the geometric shapes in contrast with the overall softness of the object.
Mario Bellini (Milan, February 1, 1935) is an Italian designer.
He graduated in architecture in 1959 at the Milan Polytechnic where his professors were Ernesto Nathan Rogers, Gio Ponti, and Piero Portaluppi, at the time Dean of the Faculty of Architecture.
C&B Italia S.p.A. is an Italian company founded in 1966 in Novedrate, a manufacturer of furniture, furnishings and other objects for the home.
